The New Path

Sorry to keep you waiting but here are some photos of the finished stone work by our stone mason, Thor.  What an upgrade: here's the new and improved Buck Lodge!

The view from the driveway.
The path goes right to the front door steps, but you can also walk right over to our new patio.
The new patio!
A brilliant solution for that weird, under-the-deck area.
Get a load of that new stone wall!
Aerial shot of the planting bed.
The new deer buffet: opening this fall.
The patio from the deck: awesome!

Construction update

So here are the new windows from the outside...

and here they are from the inside. The light is just awesome!
Out front they've carved the new path and patio.

That pile of stones is for the new stone wall going here...

Here's where the new patio will be.

View from the deck: there will be a stepping path from the patio to the path.

What's blooming at The Lodge

Peonies opened up this weekend.

Check out these conjoined daisies!

Dahlias doing well...

Groovy spider dahlies in coral.

Morning glories are sending out shoots.

Cypripedioideae

Last year they just sprouted leaves... but this weekend we found 2 blooming "Lady Slipper" orchids in the woods behind the house. Here are some close-ups:

Pretty awesome that these little ladies were just growing wild out back...

The alliums are doing well, too:

And in closing, you may remember him from the old koi pond days... But now he's triumphantly perched atop Turtle Rock, our hero...

signs of life!

we've thawed and are on to seeding and sprouting. the daffidills are drifting, the alliums are stretching. i dug a hole (lots of rocks) for a potential clematis. the well-munched azaleas and our sweet lil charlie brown xmas tree all came up easily. ever wonder what was at the bottom of our beloved plastic water feature? 2 good-sized slick black lizards with yellow stripes.
